Hunting spiders in Stockholm

If you live in a large city you may perhaps have seen the same animals I've seen today: white swans, a rat, and a couple of magpies nesting outside of my window. But today I also saw an unusual animal: a large spider. Luckily since I'm not a fan of spiders, it was made out of metal. The spider sculpture also has a name: Maman, created by the artist Louise Bourgeois. This is how the creature looks like:

Louise Bourgeois described her spider like this:
The Spider is an ode to my mother. She was my best friend. Like a spider, my mother was a weaver. My family was in the business of tapestry restoration, and my mother was in charge of the workshop. Like spiders, my mother was very clever. Spiders are friendly presences that eat mosquitoes. We know that mosquitoes spread diseases and are therefore unwanted. So, spiders are helpful and protective, just like my mother.

So if you have nothing else to do, and if you live in Stockholm, or if you live in one of those places the sculpture will visit in the future since it is moving around, you should go and see it. You should wait until it is dark outside, so the spider will perhaps scare you are little bit more!
