Experiments with Blender

Blender is a software where you can make 3d models and animations that are similar to the animations and models in movies like Shrek. The software is free and open-source and is as good as the more expensive alternatives like 3D Studio Max and Maya. My plan is actually to make a book trailer for my biography book on Elon Musk, so I thought it was a good idea to learn Blender. Here are some examples I've been fooling around with.

Animated Volcano
This volcano used to be a static 2d image, but with the help of Blender (and Paint.net) it's now an animated short 3d movie with effects like camera shake. If you want to find out how to make one, you can follow this tutorial

To make such a movie you first need the original photograph:

...and then divide it into 2:

An Island

A City
